Morning assemblies from EuroClass for Silkeborg Højskole
During last week EuroClass organized the morning assemblies in Silkeborg Højskole. It is an every morning 30 min gathering for all students.
We could spend some time for the planning during the lessons. After a big brain storming we had a lot of crazy ideas which didn’t seemed to be possible. But youngsters can be really ambitious, so we decided to bring all ideas to life anyway.
5 mornings, 5 projects, 11 crazy ambitious students…
Monday, 8.00, 30 minutes till morning assembly. 11 EuroClassers are in the assembly hall.
First project: filming movie in 30 minutes, we will split all students into 5 teams, each of them will get the task to film some part of life in a country called Burundi. Scenes are pretty sad, about starving bad hospitals etc. Than later on responsible persons will film scenes from every day life in SH and combine everything together. The idea is to show people how happy they are to live in this society, and remind them that they are actually happy.
Students are surprised, they don’t believe they can do something like that in so short time but everything worked well our students are really creative.
Monday, 22.30. EuroClass is decorating the assembly hall for Tuesdays morning assembly.
Tuesday, 8.30. Students entering the assembly hall.
Ohh, something changed hear. There are a lot of flags all over, a gong in the middle, the chairs are in circles, what is going on?
Music starts and… Welcome to the Big GEO Show! Today’s theme is Geography of Europe.
EuroClass prepared a lot of questions to check the knowledge of geography of Danish youth.
It was lot’s of fun…
Wednesday, 8.25. Everything is ready for a common painting. Each student must leave their hand print and name on it. Later EuroClass will find a frame for this picture and hang it somewhere in school.
Wednesday, 16.00. Euro Class starts to decorate and rebuild the assembly hall again for the craziest project-common sleeping. One half of the assembly hall turns to a fantastic dining room; long tables, candles,... and the second half turns to a huge common bed, made out of role mats and mattresses. The walls are decorated with stars and there is an armchair in the corner.
Wednesday, 22.00. The students gather in the assembly hall. There are fantastic strawberry cakes on the tables, candles all over, nice music, cozy atmosphere.
Wednesday, 22.40. Everybody moves to the sleeping part of the assembly hall and start to watch cartoons and funny commercials.
Wednesday, 00.00. Fairytale time. Granny appears and seats herself in the armchair and starts to read fairytales, everybody paid attention as you can imagine.
Thursday, 00.30. EuroClass singing for everybody a goodnight song in Danish! Of course it’s more funny than sleepy.
Thursday, 07.30. EuroClass serves breakfast in the assembly hall!!! It’s so nice to wake up with calm music and have your breakfast near by J.
Friday, 08.30. Students enter the assembly hall, there is a lot of stuff from the gym hall, but where are the chairs? Trumped music starts and the general appears. He divides the students into 2 teams. They have 2 minutes to build a fort. They receive paper balls. And… 1 2 3 go! A war begins. It is definitely very funny and not too serious. Then the music stops and everybody can watch the movie they filmed on Monday!
After the movie the students applauded for a pretty long time, and even awarded EuroClass with medals “World best morning assemblies”, it was the best prize for a hard work.
