During the last days at the Højskole EuroClass prepaired in groups a creative review of their stay at the school, this is a letter Kai read to us aloud...

Andrea from Austria.....Dasha from Ukraine....Line from Denmark....Davis from Latvia....Tomi and György from Hungary....Baha from Turkey.....Taavi from Estonia

On the 17th of August all those very brave guys and girls are jumping into the cold water. All of them, except Line, leave their own home country and come to Denmark, to Silkeborg hojskole. Non of them knows exactly what is waiting for them.

Most of us just graduated from  high school and want to have some new experiences. Everybody is excitied and a bit nervous. We arrived at the school and already then we discover the first challenge. Baha has to live together with an Estonian, with Taavi. Dasha and Andrea have to share their room and their different culture etc. Everybody is talking in a  different language, there are no familiar people.

Three days later arrive two Estonian girls Miriam and Kai. They are so confused, they even donīt know what to do when they step in to the school. Then they get a good news, then can live together and they are very happy about it.

On the second of September finally Roman from Ukraine is arriving. Itīs very easy for him to live in, because he is a very friendly person who likes to talk. He finds himself in the same room with Tomi.

Now all EuroClass is here.

In our first lesson we are introducing ourselves to each other. Our teacher Morten is talking about things what we are going to do in EuroClass and in the school in general.

Our first big challenge is the trip to Berlin. We donīt know each other so well yet, but travelling together is the best way to change that. We also got another teacher Lena joining us on the trip and on the rest of the year. We are spending many days in the bus but still we have a good time when we are playing cards, talking or just sleeping. During our time in Berlin we experience very many things, we have some different assingments. Some of them need courage and some of them need crativity. All together we make some cool interviws with Germans and the girls win the fotomarahton. We are visiting museums, for example Check Point Charlie and also we can see different monuments. After that trip we all feel much closer to each other.

In the school we can choose different workshops. For example pottery, class, sports, theater sports, sailing, kajaking etc. We have here very good facilities for everything: We can swim, play pool, table tennis, table football..

EuroClass has some different subjects- conflict management, psychologie,  the history of Europe, team building, group psychologie etc. Lessons are so different here in the hojskole. We are sitting in the classroom and ofcourse we have a teacher aswell, but everything is so free. We can always disturb and say what we are thinking about different things. It always aloud to say what we want. We have very many group works and discussions. At the moment actually we really canīt understand most of the things we are getting out from these subjects. I am sure that after 5 or 10 years we really can say what was useful for us and what we really got from here.

Of course we have to mention that very big part in hojskole is the social life. In the hojskole there are only 80 students and we all are living here. We are sharing the food, the rooms, the showers, actually we are sharing everything. No matter what but we all are connected anyway. It is very nice to have 80 friends at the same time. Of course we canī t talk with everybody all the time and we find some really good friends. Sometimes we can feel ourselves like in the cage, because we, specially EuroClass, have to be here, in the hojskole most of the time, actually we are always here. Danish guys can go home for the weekend if they feel like, but we canīt do that. Itīs not very nice that everybody knows everything about everybody and gossips are very easy to come. Sometimes we would like to have some privacy but here itīs quite impossible to get it. Thereīs no privacy at all! But on the other hand than you can be compleatly yourself you don’t need to hide anything because people know it already anyway and it’s ok.

Here in hojskole, personal development is very high. We can educate ourselves in very many ways. We have very good possibilities for doing sports, art, music etc. We just have to ask and almost everything is possible. I think almost all of us can say that we all are now much more open minded. We are ready to try new things and we know that if we really wanted someting then we also could manage that. Probably our self-confidence is higher aswell. I personally can say that I have much more courage than I had before. Here I have experienced that if I did something wrong then nobody laughed. Everybody are accepting others the way they are.

Every one of us came to another country and our cultures are very different. Here we are getting food we are not used to. We have to speak in a language wich we are not used to. We left our friends and family in our countres. But the good thing is that now we can understand the world much better. Eventhough we are speaking different languages, we have different backround, we have different interests, we can do everything, we can manage everything. Our understanding to the others has grown a lot.

The most important thing what we got from this year is all of us. We started almost all together. After christmas holiday we lost Taavi, but we got Kristian. I think I am not wrong if I say that we all are friends. Durning this year we have experienced so many things all together. Some of the things are going to stay in our heart forever. We cantīt forget people with whom we have lived a year. We canīt forget our first trip to Berlin where we learned to know each other, we canīt forget our study trips to where we went in pairs. We canīt forget how hard we worked for all our projects: morning assamblies, „challenge“- an english lesson for the students etc. We have had many sleepless nights when we were preapering for different projects. This year with itīs experiences is unique for all of us, this connects us the most. Nobody back at home can understand us like we do, because they have no idea what we have done here all together. These things will connect us forever. We will remember each other forever.
